March 17 Meeting is Canceled

Out of an abundance of caution, recognizing that COVID-19 is now in our backyard and that flattening the infection curve heavily depends upon widespread "social distancing", we are canceling our March 17 meeting.

A few of our members are currently ill and it's not yet known with what precisely. Most of our members are part of the "at risk" segment of the population, and that alone warrants caution and hygienic discipline.

With a bit of luck, the threat will begin declining significantly as we head into April. Here's wishing you and yours a safe and healthy spring.

THE CLUB'S SEPTEMBER 20 MEETING IS CANCELLED

Due to the recent increase in community spread of the COVID-19 virus and recent exposure to it experienced by some of our members, we are cancelling the September meeting in an abundance of caution and concern for all of our members.

I hope all of you and your families stay well.

73,

Rick, W7YP
President

THE CLUB'S NOVEMBER 17 MEETING IS CANCELLED

***** NOTICE *****
At 7PM MST on 11/17, Gary Roberts (KF7VQO) will be hosting an on-air club meeting on the Blacktail repeater (146.760). Please join him for some on-air comradery. ***** END OF SPECIAL NOTICE *****

As most of you probably know, COVID cases and hospitalizations locally are on the increase and only half of the increase in new cases can be attributed to increases in testing. Since I last communicated with you, I personally have become aware of more friends and family members who’ve recently contracted the virus. This is to be expected as we spend more time indoors, due to seasonal weather. Our local hospitals have limited ICU space for COVID patients and we certainly don’t want to overwhelm their capabilities.

We have a testing session just before the club’s regularly scheduled meeting time and that’s still going to be held.  However, we have a large number of people to test this time and that potentially significantly increases the airborne and surface born viral load at SAR’s building and just before club members would be arriving for the club meeting.

I’ve discussed our course of action with the club’s officers and trustees and we’ve universally agreed that we should cancel the November club meeting.

In December, we normally have a club Christmas dinner party with Famous Dave’s being the preferred venue for the past two years. Because of the continuing COVID risk, restaurants are not currently hosting dinner gatherings for parties our size; so, sadly, we also won’t be having our normal annual club Christmas dinner.

I wish all of you a happy and safe holiday season and hope to see you again early in the new year.

73,
Rick, W7YP

K7SMT is a Silent Key (SK)

It is with a sad heart that I must announce that one of our members, John (Jack) Klovstad, passed away peacefully on the night of November 30, 2020.

Jack was a beloved member of the club and was very active in the community. He gave so much of his time to so many in this area.

Jack was an active Christian who knew where he was going upon his death and he looked forward to being with his Savior and Lord. Given his long history of charitable work, I'm certain that Jack laid up considerable treasure in his heavenly home.

I will post again, once funeral arrangements have been made.

Rick, W7YP
