License Upgrade! KF7VQP

Congratulations are in order to Sheri Roberts KF7VQP who has successfully upgraded to General this weekend.

We hope to hear her now more often on the air. Let's listen for her on the Montana Traffic Net 3.910, at 6:30 every night.

NEXT TESTING SESSION FOR AMATEUR RADIO LICENSE OR UPGRADE

THE NEXT TESTING SESSION to receive or upgrade your Amateur Radio license will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the SAR building on Three Mile Drive in Kalispell. TESTING WILL BEGIN AT 5:30 p.m.

You will need to bring a picture ID, a signed copy of your current license-if you are upgrading, a pencil, and a calculator if you wish to use one. The testing fee is $14.00

HOW TO GET A COPY OF YOUR CURRENT LICENSE:

1. Go to http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/searchLicense.jsp
2. Search for your call sign.
3. Click on your call sign
4. Click on the ADMIN tab
5. Click on "Authorization -- Licensee"
6. Your reference copy license will open in a PDF file for printing or saving.

Ham Testing in Eureka

Just received this from Don for testing TOMORROW, tuesday in Eureka, in case you can make it. Otherwise we still will have testing on the 20th at the SAR building even though our meeting time has moved that week to plan for a possible open house this month.

We will be holding a Ham Testing Session on Tuesday, October 6th, at 1700 hrs. (5:00 P.M.).
Testing will be held at Valley Pizza in Eureka, back room.
Cost for testing is $6.00, that is a one time fee regardless if you take one test or three tests in the same testing session, in other words, if you want to take your Tech test, and after passing it, you want to go ahead and test for General at the same session, and then Extra, well you sure can for that one $6.00 fee.
If you or someone you know is ready to take the test and get Ham licensed, please GET THE WORD OUT,and join us, or if you are in the area, please stop by and say hello to the gang or twist Don's arm .

Flathead Valley Amateur Radio Club Open House sticky icon

The club will be hosting a "This is Amateur Radio" open house at the Flathead County Search and Rescue facility on Saturday the 17th of October, from 1PM to 5PM. The facility is located at 525 Three Mile Drive in Kalispell.

An assortment of radios and antennas will be shown and members will be on hand to discuss radio activities and technology. Refreshments will also be provided.

If you're wondering what amateur radio is all about and the many aspects to the hobby, or you're already a ham and would like to meet some of the club members, please stop by and say "Hello."

Technician Training in Whitefish..Update 11/08

Class is full, one more Saturday, then 14 signed up for the 2 o'clock test.

Saturday the 7th of November and the following Saturday, the 14th, the FVARC Club will sponsor a two day Technicians Class.
Two Saturdays of study and review designed to prepare you for the Technician Ham Radio License. Start time is 8 am to 5 pm. Test is on the last day, Saturday the 14th. at about 2 pm.
Location: BNSF Train Depot, 2nd floor conference room in Whitefish, Mt. 500 Depot Street.

Cost is $35 dollars which includes a study manual with study guides by Gordon West. Fee also covers the test on the last Saturday. If you already have the Gordon West Technician manual the class fee will be only $14 dollars which covers the test fee.
Your instuctors will be from the Flathead Valley Amateur Radio Club and are all volunteer. This is a non-profit club putting on this class on a cost only basis with the conference room being also donated by Burlington Northern Santa Fee Railroad as a community service. Class size is limited to 19 students, first come first served, fees due on the first Saturday.

This is a great and rare opportunity to get your Technicians License with real hams to answer your questions and explain the hobby. No electronics knowledge is necessary on your part, come as you are and enjoy.
